The cause of death has yet to be confirmed but regardless, it was senseless.
When I heard of Heath Ledger’s death yesterday, images of his last interview came to mind. He seemed tired, uncomfortable, burdened. Epithets uncharacteristic of his youth, his talent, his promise. But watching news reports of his death, I realized that all concentrated mostly on his role in Brokeback Mountain and all introductions started with “Oscar-nominated actor” … It must be tough to be one-dimensionalized and perhaps this simple characterization was suffocating and unbearable. We heard the cry for help even though it’s too late to do anything about it.

Praises and burdens
